So far the local authorities have said that the One to One tuition programme is going to carry on until Christmas but after that they don’t know. As we all know the conservatives are making many cuts and this could be one to go. I think it is such a shame as it was really benefiting those students in state schools that needed that extra bit of help or just the confidence to believe in themself. You can do so much with a student in a One to One lesson compared with a class of thirty students or more.
It is a shame that the government have put so much money into getting this One to One training up and running. It is not only the students who will miss out but also teachers like myself who have spent a lot of time and effort creating schemes of work and learning new skills. A lot of money has been spent on training courses (I have attended three). It would be a false economy to scrap this just one and half years into the scheme. Not to mention the teachers that will now be out of work!
